KUBE thermal plate sealer
Heat sealing in the laboratory environment is a technique that today is common place. It is used in a number of disciplines from compound management to PCR alike.
KBioscience have designed the next generation heat sealer taking on board all plate sealing requirments.
In December 2010 we were approached by a large bluechip company to develop the new Kube.
KUBE Features & Benefits
| Feature | Advantage |
| Full Software Control with plate methods | Higher quality sealing & Ease of Use / Integration |
| FlexiBlock option | Allows superior seal and multiple re-seal option |
| Interchangeable "FlexiSeal" heater block | More plates can be sealed (high rims for example), improved seal quality |
| Plate can be presented or loaded in Portrait or Landscape | Robotic integration friendly |
| Lowest height instrument on market (lower than the FlexiSeal) | Robotic integration friendly |
| Seal length can be varied | No seal based stacker errors or large seal overhang for ease of manual foil peel |
| Universal plate nest design | More plates sealed without need for supports |
| Seal roll loaded by hand (no loading device) | Ease of use |
| Novel cutter design | More reliable seal cutting |
| Supplied on a turntable for ease of access | Ease of use |
| Faster Sealed Plate times | Plates are presented back to the customer in half the time of the FlexiSeal |
Software
The KUBE is controlled by a user friendly touch screen interface, that allows users / intergrators and engineers alike to have the required level of control. Supervisor and engineer options are password protected to allow for correct operation of the instrument. The software control of the instrument far surpasses any of the competitive instruments on the market. An example of two of the user screens are shown below.

FlexiBlock Option
One of the diadvantages of Heat Sealing is the damage to the plate caused by the melting of the plate. The melting of the plate is necessary to smooth out any irregularities in the plate surface. We have developed an alternative sealing surface that reduces this problem significantly. The advantage of this is to enable the ability to multiple seal a plate many more times than with a conventional rigid block. The patented process utilises a highly optimised heat conductive rubberised surface to achieve this. The FlexiBlock is an additional option for the KUBE. Some images of plates sealed with a convetional block and the FlexiBlock can be seen below.
