Protocols - Application Note DNA shearing

Next Generation Sequencers benefit from a Next Gen DNA Shearing process (Overview)
Next Generation DNA Sequencers require stringent control of sample preparation protocols. As the cost and time involved in preparing samples for Next Gen systems are significant, every step (including DNA shearing) needs to be optimized to insure efficient amplification and accurate sequencing. For example, heat and/or enzymes may result in fragment bias. Both the precision and the accuracy of DNA sequencing benefit from unbiased fragment formation. The Covaris systems were designed to enable the highest quality, smallest base pair size sample preparation.
