Thermal Cyclers
KBioscience introduces a state of the art water bath HT-PCR system, the Hydrocycler, based on the proven original water-bath technology.
- Increased throughput
- Faster cycle time
- Higher quality results
- Improved reliability
- Multiple plate format no changing blocks
- Smaller footprint
- 16 & 32 plate system

Running up to 16x 384 well plates simultaneously, the Hydrocycler increases throughput and reproducibility at decreased cost, run time and space. Using the water-bath allows users to use 96, 384 and even 1536 plates in the same instrument.

The Technology
Hydrocycler thermal cyclers uses three computer PID controlled water baths to modulate the temperatures of the PCR reaction. A robotic arm is then used to move these plates between the three water baths, achieving a rapid thermal cycling profile. The result is higher throughput and higher data quality compared to standard thermal cyclers.

Increasing your PCR throughput
The Hydrocycler is equipped with an easy quick-lock and release plate module for exchanging plates between runs. This HC-16 can hold up to 11 x 96 well plates or 16 x 384 well plates (depending on the plate type). The HC-32 can hold up to 22 x 96 well plates or 32 x 384 well plates (depending on plate types)
Improving reliability and reproducibility
Using a large mass of water as a source for conducting the energy transfer to your plates ensures both rapid thermal transfer and the best possible well-to-well / plate-to-plate uniformity.
In High Throughput PCR the elimination of these peltier based systems issue like edge effects and block-to-block reproducibility can be vital to the consistency of you products quality.
Saving your lab space
Designed to fit on the lab bench, the Hydrocycler takes merely the same space as 4 ordinary peltier PCR machines. The user can easily access the plate module and operate the touchpad control system whilst standing in front of the system.IBesides holding many plates, the Hydrocycler (16 or 32) also increases throughput by faster cycle times.

Easy programming
The GUI shows water-bath status, program progression and time to completion.
Saving cost of running and maintaining your PCR capacity
Constant cooling and heating of peltier PCR machines not only generates a lot of heat, but also consumes a lot of power. Keeping thoroughly insulated water-baths in the Hydrocycler at a steady temperature significantly decreases overall power consumption. The difference in power consumption between a Hydrocycler and the equivalent peltier PCR capacity on a yearly bases can add up to the same as the consumption of an average household !.
