If one is to contemplate purchasing the capital equipment to carry out the genotyping in-house then it is worth considering how much genotpying this equates to using our service. For example a capital equipment purchase of £250,000 would allow for a project of 2000 SNPs over 1000 DNA samples to be conducted. If the overheads of, consumables and staff are also calculated then this figure can be dramatically affected

Speed congenics example
For breeding / mapping a genetic trait in a mouse the use of genotyping can be employed.  It is imperative that the genotyping is carried out rapidly due to the lifecycle of the mouse.   For a generation of 22 mice using the KBioscience ready Mouse SNP panel to type 150 markers across a locus the following cost structure would be applicable.
