Large study of thousands of SNPs over any number of samples

The introduction of the 1536 well plate technology into the KBioscience service facility has expanded our capacity such that it is now feasible for us to outcompete mulitplex technologies from companies such as Illumina.

The advantage of using our services are that there is no constraint on assay number and or sample number. In fact, should you place an order for 567 SNP's and one week later you find you need to add a further 20 SNP's then this is perfectly feasible. It is not with multiplex assays. In addition at the end of a study the reamining assay can be returned to your lab for further work on a subset of the original set. This is often the reason that many of our customers choose to use KBioscience for large scale breeding studies rather than Illumina for example.

For breeding / mapping a genetic trait in a mouse the use of genotyping can be employed.  It is imperative that the genotyping is carried out rapidly due to the lifecycle of the mouse.   For a generation of 22 mice using the KBioscience ready Mouse SNP panel to type 150 markers across a locus the following cost structure would be applicable.
